Networking Evening – 14th September 2017
Our official hotel partner for the event, Park Regis, based at the top of Broad Street, hosted an evening for all Business 100 members on Thursday 14th September at 18:00. Our special guests for the evening, former professional cyclist David Millar and David Walsh, the Sunday Times journalist and best-selling author of Seven Deadly Sins, the story of his 18-year pursuit of Lance Armstrong, delivered some insightful cycling anecdotes as well as a Q&A. Purity Brewing provided the beer, Klein Constantia provided the wine and Park Regis put on some delicious canapés.
Training Ride with Martin Johnson – 20th May 2017
Starting at Purity Brewing, a fantastic local brewery company based in Redditch, Martin Johnson CBE took our Business 100 riders on a stunning 29 mile ride around the Warwickshire countryside before returning for some well-earned food and beer. It was a roaring success and the perfect start to their Vélo Birmingham experience.
“The Homeserve team were all made to be so welcome by Vélo Birmingham and Purity Brewery during the practice ride on Saturday. The organisation was first class, the domestique support riders were excellent, Martin Johnson was inspirational and the welcome pint and hog roast rounded off the ride perfectly. We are Walsall based and are proud to be participating in a West Midlands based event, raising money for charity and shall ensure that the proceeds are used locally. We are of mixed ability, with a few novices, but we all achieved 60 miles overall which sets us up for the main 100 mile event in September. We really can’t wait for it.”
Head of CSR, Homeserve
“Each group was at a pace which suited all within the group, ensuring everyone finished. It gave an overall impression that the Business 100 organisers were there to see that the riders would succeed in the event proper; and that organisation and rider convenience, along with safety, were uppermost. Not quite the earliest pint I have had, but the earliest pig roast I am sure; and both the most welcome. It was an end to a ride which led to the perfect opportunity to meet and socialise with likeminded people.”
Barrister, St. Philips Chambers
“We were immediately put at ease with a moderate pace set by the domestiques and we had the opportunity to ask questions about their cycling experience and they gave us lots of tips to help us along the way. My cycling technique has improved significantly as a result and I feel better able to carry on with my training and a whole lot more confident about the ride in September.”
